9 fuelies
Say that 9 stock fuelies showed up at the pure stock drags - what would the finishing order be? What do you think the times would be? Would Donny Brass beat them all

Assuming all else was equal, that is equal accessories and options (and tires), then the 64 and 65 cars would be quickest. Possibly the 64 quicker than the 65 because the stock (non Z06) drum brakes are possibly lighter than the stock disc brakes. HOWEVER, I have owned and raced enough midyear cars to know that no two of them are equal in horsepower, handling or anything else.
Also, "prepared" cars like Donny Brass's L79 run quicker than most of the 67 427/435 cars ACTUALLY did back in the day. I have never been a drag racer, but I went a few times with friends, and my best time was 13.52@109mph. I think Donny beats that. I have NEVER seen a "stock" Corvette run 12s on street tires, although the FAST cars do consistently.

I'd also add that the "stock" '63 just might outrun the '64/'65 in a quarter mile drag race assuming the 4.11 axle and the stock 6.70/7.75 tires. ET, but not trap speed.
A midyear has a lot better offline traction than the C-1 if for no other reason than the shorter wheelbase. The midyears grab good off the line. The C-1's, not so good.
I think a midyear fuelie with street stock tires is a low 14 second car at 102-104 mph.

I haven't ever been lucky enough to ride in a fuelie, but I figured a '57 or a '62 would be the top dogs due to their lower weight

It was my experience, back when, that the fuellie cars were virtually no faster in the quarter than the 365 hp cars.

Course we bench race here, but I think all those fuelies "prepared" for Pure Stock drag race participation under the guidance of participants like Paul Richards, Kenny, and Donny would run as quick or quicker then Donny's best. Using the same driver, having plenty of experience knowing the car, determining best launch techniques, temp, tire pressure all w/play a part.
