Default Another deciphering code question

I'm a relative newby so go easy.

I have a 63 convertible.
I have deciphered the vin code 30867S102265 as a 1963, V8, assembled in St. Louis with a serial of 102265.
The engine code is F1014RD (Flint,Oct 14,300hp)
Another number on the engine is 3102265 (not sure what this means)

The rear end # is 3830308
Trans is #385325. There is another number on the trans that reads #30883
Bellhousing is 3788421

I did a search here and on Google.
What do I have here with the other codes not deciphered?

Thanks

Well your car number is 2265, an early car, and yes the RD suffix would indicate a 300HP engine. "Another number on the engine" that you mention is presumably on the pad and would be the VIN derivative stamp for car number 2265, which matches your VIN. Posting pictures of your engine pad, VIN plate and Trim Tag (under the glove box) would help further eval of your numbers. It would also help to know the engine block cast number and date, the info for finding all these numbers is here (search) and all over the internet (Google).

Looking a bit further your car #2265 would probably have been built in the first week of November 1962. The last car in October 1962 was #2756 just nine cars before yours And this would line up with your engine build date of October 14, assuming block numbers and dates are all correct. Yours was the 2265th car of the 21,513 built for the 1963 model year

Thanks! I'll get some pictures to post.
Any idea what the rear end and trans codes interpret?

What is your trim code info?
If it was originally Ermine White as your picture shows the paint code would be 936A.
I'll take a guess and say that your body number would be 1244. I have never seen your '63 but have recorded another very close to it.

The ratio code and assembly date for the differential is stamped on the bottom of the differential flange, between the strut rod bracket and the spring retainer plate. It will be two letters (ratio code) followed by the date. You'll need to do some cleaning to see it.

I'll have to dig around to find the casting number of the block.

Your car data indicates 936A Ermine White, body number 1244 (exactly as Gold63 predicted ), Trim 490 vinyl and 490D using ECL decode info indicates Red Vinyl. Body built 4th week of October, 1962

Thanks Gents! Once it's warmer in my garage, I'll crawl underneath and find that rear end code and also get the casting number off the block.

I wanted to pull all this info together since I'd eventually like to sell or trade it and/or buy a C2 coupe.

That's because coupes and convertibles used two separate body sequential numbering systems; it's possible for a coupe and a convertible to have the same body number.

Yes, I'm aware of that, John. I was just encouraged by how the numbers track the build dates.
