Body Inspection pointers
Good evening everyone. I am flying to CA tomorrow to see a 65 real red/red 365hp AC convertible that has come available. It has had a restoration (fairly recent) and other than an incorrect transmission, is very nice top and bottom. I had someone look at the car for me today and everything checks out except there is some undercoating on the front inner fenders which should not be there and just does not look right.
With that said, how do I determine if this has a one piece front end on it? Lack of bonding strips? Or?? I have had a number of midyears and have a good friend that knows, but he is unable to go with me tomorrow - I would like to be able to determine any issues if I can. I assure you, if everything else checks out, I will make the sale subject to an expert inspection of the body (or fly my buddy over from Arizona). I am just trying to find some clues that are obvious - I will be able to view up on a lift, etc.
Thanks! Ron

The undercoating belongs there and is factory correct. The first thing to check is to make sure it's a press mold glass. If the checks out look for bondig strips

Have a good look at the photos of this car, it should be a pretty good guide to original body work
