Default Identifying my trans

My '62 has T-10 trans, and has 3:36 rear gears, which I verified when I went through the rear end last summer. How can I determine if I have a close ratio or wide ratio trans?

I was just reading some other threads pertaining to this subject, and became curious as to what my car has.

Thanks for your help!

seriously, it's hard to do with the trans in the car, but this RPM calculator might help

When I put that page up back in 1996, I had no idea it would still be getting used almost 17 years later.

Thank you. My car is still a couple of weeks out from picking up, but I did go check it out again yesterday...currently being sanded with 5000 grit-the black really shines. I brought the hard top home with me so I don't have to worry about picking it up when I bring the car home.....getting excited!!!! I liked the silver color-really seemed to show off the body lines. But I don't think I am going to be disappointed with it being black.

Until I have to wash it everytime I drive it!

unmolested 62

250, 300 hsp wide ratio
340, 360 hsp close ratio

trans out one turn of the input shaft with trans in 1st gear makes the output shaft turn approx 2.2 times for CR and 2,5 times for WR

2:20 first CR
2;54 first WR

some formulas for rpm drop @ speed found in archives here or the 'oter site'

Actually, it's the other way around - 2.2 turns of the input shaft to get one turn of the output shaft is CR, 2.5 turns of the input shaft to get one turn of the output shaft is WR.

Thanks for the formula-engine/trans currently in the car. I guess it really doesn't matter what it is...gonna drive it no matter WHAT it is! Just would be nice to know what it is.
