78 Pace Car was a marketing marvel: "One per dealer" Wow! only problem was over six thousand dealers. Worked like a charm though, little bonus for the troups!

in my youth I wanted a midyear corvette, but could not ever quite get enough to buy what I wanted, but in the meantime had quite a few Pontiac's, many I would love to have back.

The Corvette was always a front line siren on the lots.

That last picture is interesting. The 66SS already had the headlight extension replaced with the incorrect one. Do you know what year it was taken

That's really strange. You would have thought you could still have got the correct one. Thanks for sharing

Memories, I bought my 1st 65 coupe from a small lot like this on El Cajon Blvd in San Diego in 1970. Only paid $2000.

When I bought my 65 there was a 63 split window sitting next to it for $200 more ($2200). If I only knew? Since I was a sports car nut I was hooked on the 4 wheel disc brakes.

No, It's our bodyshop that my grand-father built in 1947. We are still conducting business out of the same building. (with a few additions through the years)

If that's a used car lot ,that GTO is still a "new" car if the picture was taken in May 1967!!!

Hey Scott,

That's even more cool! 1947, and still working out of it.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see that too often.

Congratulations on keeping the family business going!

Pat
