1817 dash Bulbs
Looking to replace the original 1816 dash bulbs with 1817.
I've searched everywhere and even if I find someone who Carry's the 1817 it's out of stock. Are these even available anymore?
TIA,
Tom

Doesn't look like you'll have much luck finding 1817 bulbs. Read through the following thread for some other brighter bulbs being used and sources for them. Dave

Atlanta discontinued them.
I may have the last set.
How many do you need? I might be persuaded to part with some.....

Tom,
You may want to look @ the 1414's offered by "Bulb Town" (BulbTown.com) . . . I just ordered some last week to upgrade my dash lights. They're 1/3rd brighter . . . $1.75 each.

Try 1416s. They're the same bulb size as 1414s but are much brighter. They're available from Bulb Town or www.bulbster.com Either way, you will notice the dimmer will work with much less rotation than with original bulbs (1893s) or 1816s because of the additional current draw. The resistance wire on the dimmer will get very hot, but it's mounted on a ceramic base, so no need to worry about the heat (assuming you even use the dimmer).
Note, neither of these will fit in bulb places that require a T 3 1/4 or G 3 1/4 size bulb (radio, heater and radio control **** bezels, cigarette lighter, ignition key), but they will fit in all the bulb socket openings in the cluster and the clock.
A 10 amp fuse for the instrument panel lamps will cover the extra current draw if you replace all the cluster and clock illumination bulbs with 1416s. They're probably overkill for the turn signal indicators, LIGHTS, BRAKE and high beam indicators. I use 1816s for those.
