I remember seeing 1 of these years ago when my dad and I took his 64 fuel tanker on a trip from IN to GA. It was a blue, blue 66. Seems like we were visiting Paul Adams and it was his at the time. This was late 80's.

Hi Tim and thanks for sharing this project. Your work is absolutely amazing, and has been for years. Even though this is a Corvette Forum, how about telling us a little about that swiss cheese Poncho in the background.
Thanks,
Rex

3xxx miles (all drag)
That (not yet lettered) is the Van Winkle car from Texas.
Pontiac drilled holes in the frame for weight reduction and that is what they are famous for. That and being ridiculously fast. I owned the Union Park Pontiac and its documented going 9 Seconds.
Heres a pic of the frame so everyone can see.
6+ will be featured at this years MCACN. Including this one & the my old Union Park car.

The old 1963 Z0-6 Corvette Bondurant #614 race car had similar holes in its original frame. When restored in 1985, Bob Johanke, the original mechanic and crew chief for Washburn Chevrolet cars in Santa Barbara who also restored the car, weighed it and compared it to an original. Saved 17 pounds. And.........discovered the holes really hurt the torsion rigity of the frame. In 1993 at a vintage race in Palm Springs, the frame just ''came apart''. Owner / driver Vic Edelbrock had a wild ride that day.
It took large ''juevos'' to step hard on the gas pedal in these old cars.

1966 Tanker
I have a friend who has a 66 Big Tank, 425 hp, car Blue/Blue. While doing a frame of on it I took some pictures of the tank set up and the markings on yours were done by the same person. His reads OK 12-9-65 H.S. I seen many tank set ups, in and out of cars, some with the NO3, written correct.
