Default C2 Windsheild NCRS quality?

Looking for some advice on anyone thats purchased a dated C2 windsheild that was the correct thickness and shading for NCRS.

I purchased one from Ecklers last year and the thickness was not correct, much thinner then factory.

Just looking for someone that might've found something that past judging.

Thanks for your time.

NOBODY makes a tinted midyear windshield that will get no deductions - the contour of the upper shade band is incorrect, and Pilkington is the only manufacturer of the tinted windshield. The only tinted windshield that will get no deductions is an original.

I just put a windshield in my '65 2 weeks ago.

Here's a short video with a closeup of the tinted Pilkington windshield I purchased (dated). Struggled with the cowl trim install. Waiting till the Detroit Autorama is over to have a shop install that cowl trim piece on correctly.

If you're doing the install yourself and yours is a convertible, be sure to install that cowl trim piece first, before you put the glass in.

Well,

I tried. But the linking is not working, so here's a close up of the tinted glass.

The video did work for me, but just to clarify for the OP, the Pilkington tinted windshield is not like the originals. There will be a deduct.

All my other glass is original, but it seems someone replaced my windshield at one point with Guardian.

What date are you looking for? I have a few original tinted windshields, I will check the dates. Let me know. No one makes a correct one.

No tinted reproduction windshield glass, that I know of, will pass Regional or National Judging. The amount of tint and fading is wrong. Put original and repo side by side and it will stand out like a sore thumb.

I think that it is a 20% deduct for non original tint. Assuming every thing else w/windshield is OK about 2-3 points. Rare to see a tinted original windshield on the judging field.

Windshield is worth 20 points for originality and I think incorrect tinting is a 50% deduct. My car has the original windshield and and it has lost 0 to 4 points for chips and a small scuff when it has been judged.

Hi,
Are the windshields that you have tinted? What are the date codes on both the 63 and 66 windshields?
Thanks,
John

63 Windshield is not for sale...it is a new replacement. However, the 66 windshield it. Production date of the car was December 23rd or around that of 1965. Entire set matches, so i would like to sell it all together. It was an AC car and it is all tinted.

Thank You, but I just need the windshield glass and your date code is too early.
