Default update 3/29

Here is the latest update and pictures. The body has been wet sandend and buffed out. Only the passenger side door left to finish then the engine compartment will be painted satin black. The paint looks amazing and it looks smooth like glass in person. The badges aren't in all the way but I just wanted to see how it would look like. Note how the color seems to change tones depending on how the fluorescent lights hit it. I'm really anxious to see this baby out in the sun!

Default update 8/24

Another milestone reached on my project! The body and chassis are finally together! Mike will make sure everthing is perfectly squared before we take final measurements for the wheels. I'm going with 18" all around and have narrowed my decision to Evod wheels...Either the turbine wheels with a custom center cap to look like the '67 style...or having them make replicas of the ralley wheels. The wheels that are on there now were just so he can move it around in his shop and to check for clearance which there is plenty (275x18x35 rear / 245x17x45 front in the picutres). The color looks more amazing in person and can't wait to see it out in the sun. The motor really stands out w/ the black engine compartment. I'm contemplating annodizing the master cylinder black and smoothing the ribs out, then etching the Corvette flags on the top so it stands out like the valve covers....I'm going to ponder that one for a while and see if the way it looks now grows on me. The chrome bumpers looks flawless, nice work from Pauls Chrome! Here are the latest pictures.

Very very nice vette. If I may, I think youll need more gear. 3:73 will work fine. I think with the 3:55 youll not need 5th gear.

Joe, thanks! Do you or anyone following this thread know what kind of RPM's I would be turning at say 35,55 or 75 mph w/ those two gear ratios? I would be curious to know. I do a lot of highway driving and this motor has plenty of torque between 1800-5800rpms.

Given how well the efi LS motors cruise at low rpm (1,800 maybe less) and you will do a lot of highway driving, I would stick with the 3.55s. I have 3.73s in my C5 Z06 and love it, but I also have a 6th gear.

93polo sent you a excellent formula to figure out your rpm vs speed. Check it out. My 63 resto has a 3:73 viper rear and a tremec tko 600 5 speed. at about 70 mph tach about 1600-1800 rpm.

Sounds like a tall tire. A C5/C6 tire diameter (26.65"), .64 5th, 1,800rpm:

3.73: ~59mph
3.55: ~62mph

I would recommend running the calc with the ratios, gear, and tires being used.

Default update 10/5

I order my wheels last week...Going w/ the Evod Turbines 18x9 in front and 18x10 in back. Mine will look similar to the blue Corvette pictured below. I will have a polished lip and the centers will be blasted for texture and the spokes will be machined flat. I am also having the inside of the hoops and inside the wheel painted satin black and it will resemble the red Corvette below (this one has a brushed lip). Evod is also making customer center caps for me that will resemble the '67 caps and not the knock offs on the wheels pictured. I'm also adding a custom touch to the inside of the caps and will engrave the Corvette flags...Can't wait!
