Default heater core box

had my heater core out and replaced but cannot remember if anything goes on the outside in the hood compartment other than the outside air cover which attaches with some small screws to the heater core plate

Yes, a seal goes between the firewall and the blower unit. Did you get a seal kit from one of our supporting sponsors? Dennis

There are no screws from the engine side blower case to the core plate; four studs from the inside box go through the core plate, gasket, firewall, gasket, blower case, and are secured with four 1/4" stamped nuts.

Default 1963 heater studs

where the inner flat part of the studs on the inner heater box painted black or left silver , if painted what color black was it .......... thanks
