Default 64 engine code question

Please help me understand the difference between the RE and RT codes for 64

RE = 327-cid 365-hp V-8 with 11.0:1 compression ratio, manual transmission or special high-performance manual transmission, and four-barrel carburetor

RT = 327-cid 365-hp V-8 with 11.0:1 compression ratio, manual transmission, and four-barrel carburetor

RE and RT are both the same except for one transmission option available with RE? I suppose then I have to check the trans code for VIN and type?

I'm planning to look at a 365 HP 64 in the next couple days and this could be a key factor in making an offer.

Thanks,

Oh, very nice. Thanks.

One car I am about to go see is supposed to be a RT car then. Any advice on what to look for besides the stamp pad? Details please...

Look for the T.I. parts and if in working order. The system can cost a bunch of $$ to replace if missing or not working.
