SWC on Counting Cars
Heads up for a Counting Cars episode on the History Channel Tuesday the 4th at 9 pm EDT where Danny tries to buy a SWC. He offers $25K for the car which looks like it needs paint but can't tell much more about the car from the short clip.

Yep, no test drive, no birdcage inspection, just cash and carry. Makes for great TV but more like an episode from the Twilight Zone <LOL>.

It's all made for T.V. garbage. Selling it for $115K is a joke. All they did was paint it and freshen the motor. The frame, suspension, wiring and everything else is still 50 years old and needs to be replaced/restored. Talk about putting lipstick on a pig. I've seen many of these T.V. cars in person from Overhaulin, Boyd Coddington, Search & Restore etc. and can honestly say that I would be embarrassed to say I did any of the work on them. They look great on T.V. but in person, they are all 20 footers.

These types of cars shows and their unrealistic car prices do for the aftermarket car industry the same thing as Pawn Stars and Storage Wars do for their respective industry, inject interest that fuels business for them. Who ever gave two craps about a pawn shop before Pawn Stars? Also look at storage companies. Before Storage Wars if you didn't pay your bill after a certain period of time they would dump your stuff out by the road for trash collection now you want me to believe that people will bid on that crap without knowing what's in the boxes? LOL How about that episode of Storage Wars where they find 15 or 20 classic Gibson Les Paul guitars? Or all of the gold coins? LOL But yeah, good TV!

However, I will be going to Vegas when I want to sell my 65 coupe or 67 Camaro convertible and driving around until Danny Boy finds me and offers me triple what they're worth in "hundred dollar bills".

I wonder if the people who pay those insane prices for these cars ever watch the show and think "man am I an idiot". $115,000.00 for a $40,000.00 car

But I confess I watch those shows. It's good mindless entertainment. If they made shows about what actually happens on a typical day at a pawn shop or a storage locker place there's no way anyone would watch it. And as far as the car rebuild shows, how many people would watch an actual, real life car restoration? It would be mind-numbingly boring.

I wonder if there's anyway to find out how much the History Channel/Discovery Channel/Learning Channel/Travel Channel pays these car, pawn, storage, duck, logger, alligator, moonshine, obesely overweight, picker, hotel, dress, hoarding, two digit offspring, little people, crab, oil well, gunshop, fish tank, cake and or Amish people per episode?

Any one having a 63 SWC project and wanting to sell it, you need to load it up and take it to Vegas and find out where the Counts Shop is and just drive around the block several times till they see it and come out and run or chase you down. Then when he wants to buy it and you know he is going to keep it for himself , make him pay about $75K for it. Just tell him all the BS that he told the people who bought the Blue one he just sold. You may want to start out at $90K so you can come down to $75K and tell him what a deal he is getting.

I've heard numbers between $50 and $250K per episode depending on the show. If the show has big sponsors, bet that the "actors" are well paid. A show like Pawn Stars/ Storage Wars/Swamp People could easily be more than $250K per episode.
