Default 1964 327 300 w/ ac Heater Hose Help.

Hi I’m replacing the hoses on my wives 64 coupe, along with a new Dewitts radiator etc. I would like to know the correct lengths of the heater core hoses. I have looked in the assembly manual, but my pages are not legible. I also did a search on the web and forum to no avail. A picture with proper routing would be great as well.

Thanks, EJ

Here’s a link to a table on the DocRebuild website giving hose lengths. The ’67 without AC dimensions were pretty accurate, but I can’t speak to the ’63 with AC. Use it as a guide, pre-cut a little long, and finish cut as you install. I would recommend getting a Craftsman Handi-Cut (razor blade cutter) for cutting heater hoses – greatest thing ever made. Maybe someone with a ’63 AIM can give you a shot of the page showing routing.

Thanks for the reply, I have the catalog with those dimensions. They do not seem correct.

Heater hose installation and routing/clipping with A/C are shown in your '64 Assembly Manual in section C60, sheet D8.00.

I have this, but I cannot make out the length, if that is what the numbers next to the part # and hose size is.

That's the correct AIM sheet, but the numbers have nothing to do with hose length - they're change levels and torque symbols. Just fit them as you go along, and leave a bit extra until you button it all up. In production, the hoses came pre-cut by part number; the plant guys just took them out of the box and installed them.

Thanks JohnZ thats what I figured. I was hoping someone actually had the length of the hoses. Make the job a little easier .

What direction does the water shutoff valve hose route, up, towards the engine, or down?

Ah a typo. Now that's funny. LOL. I thought the reference was about my 69.

I have a restored 64 327/300 with a/c. I'll try to post pics tomorrow when I have a little more light. When I restored the car, I cut the hoses to length as needed so my lengths won't necessarily fit your car accurately.

Oops! I forgot. I'm out of the country right now but will try to get it done when I get back in a couple days. Sorry.

Here's one I had on my laptop. I'll get the complete system pictures when I get home.

All of these measurements are approximate and are unique to my car. Your lengths will be slightly different.

Upper core connection to "T" connection - 14"
Expansion tank to "T" - 2.5"
Water pump to "T" (routed under compressor) 28"
Lower core connection to vacuum shutoff valve - 2.5"
Shutoff valve to front of block (routed under compressor) - 42"

The pictures are difficult to follow because of the a/c lines.

Let me know if you need a photo of a specific area.
