Muncie Trans Tag# 3880833 Help!
Can someone help with any info on Muncie trans tag #3880853 ? its on a 1966 corvette BB with 4speed and 4:11 gears. other numbers that ive decoded so far 3885010, 3857584. Also on the bell housing the number is 3858403 with a larger number 7 above that set, and I cant find any info for the bell housing numbers? should they match anything? please help.

I've never been much of a numbers person, thus, I don't keep up with the tag numbers attached to Muncies.
But one thing I'm quite confident about is the bell housing is not a match for your big block. The 010 main case is correct for 66-67 Muncies and the 584 tail housing is correct for 65-70 Muncies.
With the exception of the 65 Corvette with a 396 BB, ALLLLLLLLLL 66-later BB Vettes got the BIG bell housing and the larger 168 teeth flywheel.
So, for a 66 with a BB, the bell housing SHOULD be the big 3872444 for the larger 168 teeth flywheel. Beginning with the 67 models, the big bell housings were 3899621. For all practical purposes, the 444 and 621 housings were identical.
The 403 housing was the smaller housing, used with ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLL 65 engines (including the 65 396 BB) and ONLY with small blocks in 66.
Yes, that's right, for 66, there was a large and small flywheel and bell housing.

Well FWIW my L72 has a tag #3880855 which from what I have found is the correct number for 66 M21 big block. Your number is listed as the tag on M21 small block cars
