It was a matter of safety for me. When you're on the freeway at speed you don't want to take your eyes off the road and crank your head around. And being an old trucker I'm lost without both mirrors. I mounted the right one in exactly the same spot as the drivers one for balance. I just had to move my head an inch or two to see it......
BTW, I hated the front plate on that car, but the coppers made me put it on.

65Hihp ... if that buzzer fit under the seat my wife would be practicing her parallel parking all day. No way I'd go for those. I wouldn't mind the old school style...you know the ones that look like a chrome spring? Only problem is that I think they would clash with my mud flaps. I think I'll pass on this idea...but I am going the R/H mirror route. I use my 65 Coupe as a driver.... :-)

Please put one on, I don't want you moving over into my lane because you can't see me!
That's mock serious, I have had passenger side mirrors on every car I've owned since the mid sixties and wouldn't have it any other way. I've been a professional driver of some sort or the other for many of those years and strongly believe it's a valuable safety feature.

Neither my '61 Corvette nor '67 Chevelle have right side view mirrors.
That's only for people that move over into the 'slow' lanes....not me
Seriously, I adapted to driving both cars quite easily in their stock configuration. But, "....to each his own."

Lots of posts on this subject, but the answer for the OP seems very simple.
If being a purist, takes precedence over safety, you don't add the mirror.
If your primary concern is safety, you add the mirror.

It is no more unsafe than the vertical 'split' on the iconic Split Window Coupe or the allegedly 'deadly' spinners on the C2 knock off wheels or 4-wheel drum brakes or bias ply tires.
Its just how much effort you want to put into driving these cars.

What does one have to do with the other? That was the style of the day!

I agree here. Always surprised when I read of "classic car" owners whose mission seems to be to make their newly acquired classic the same as a modern car. Gotta add many of the modern car features. Why? Kinda defeats the purpose don't ya think? If your primary concern is safety, I recommend not driving 50 year old cars.

As far as the curb feelers go....that's still on the table...

you are right, so far as I know there is no rule book. You can do what you wish with your car within the restrictions of the laws of your state. But I am most concerned with your congeniality. You are not taking the bait and becoming antagonistic at some of these comments. What's up with that? We have to maintain the standards of the corvette forum here, don't ya know?
