Default 1963 Grand Sport Racer at Bloomington Gold MANY PICS!

Hi Guys,

The '63 Grand Sport has ALWAYS been my favorite car and I finally had a chance to see it in person this weekend! I snapped as many pics as I could and hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

That's chassis #004, just recently out of restoration and owned by the Miles Collier Foundation.

Great Pictures of a fantastic 63 Grand Sport.
The engine is a work of art.
The white 67 L88 was also unbelieveable.
It's race history includes, "Entered in over 350 events, finished first over 150 times while winning 52 consecutive races.Finished in the top three 75% of the time, including second place at the 1970 Daytona 24 Hour.
THE CAR WAS UNSPONSORED".
Thanks to Bill Locke for another fantastic piece of Corvette History.

I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that they are lights to illuminate the number during night racing

When I was there they were doing the 10 people award presentations so I could not get pictures.
It is a very impressive car.

Anyone notice his outside mirror? Appears to be attached to the vent window. Would this have been what they used back in 63? Anyone know what kind of mirror it is? Would like to put on my car.

Dr L-88 I'll see if I can get some photos of the 67 L88 posted for you. A very impressive Corvette. And the original driver was taking it up and down St Mary's Street, full throttle ! Thanks to Dana and David for sharing it with all.

If you look closely, it appears that the mirror assy is mounted to a rectangular-shaped plate, which is attached to the vent window with through fasteners.

Thanks ZR Guy. Would love to see some shots of it. Last time I saw it was 2008 at the 2nd edition of Earthquake L-88. I'm interested in the headers that were on the car. Do you recall if they were the Kustom style of the Bill Thomas ones with the flat "merge" type collector?
Thanks,
Rex
