Default Looking for 3782870 block and other 1963 340hp stuff

Hi,

I bought a nice 63 Corvette Convertible a few days ago.
The car needs a full frame-off resto.
Thats what I´m going to do.

The only problem: There is a 350 sbc in it.
Transmission, rear end, cylinder heads, intake and valve covers are correct.

So I´m looking for a 3782870 casting #.
Also I need the correct carb, air cleaner assy and the ignition shielding.

The car was built in 2nd March 1963
Serial # 110XXX

Car was a 340hp, 4 spd car.

So I need a January or February casting date block.
Prefered with standard bore to start.

Thanks for the reply! I got an answer from the cell phone and the guy said it was a phone number for a guy named Jack, but he gave up the number. The home phone is discontinued. Was a good try, just no luck! Thanks for trying to help!

I just searched ebay using "870 block" and saw a late '62 870 block that would work for your car. May be others too.

Unfortunately I got an engine from them already, but after waiting 6 months, I had my mechanic pull it apart when it arrived and the promised 40 over engine was 60 over with a cracked cylinder, all the water jackets full of rust - basically a boat anchor with numerous other problems. In their defense, they say this was done by their machine shop and they did not know it and say they will get me another and make it right, but so far have not - will see how that turns out.

Really need a K62 or possibly a J62 would work. I am afraid a G is too early as I have a mid December built car. If anyone knows of one, please let me know.

Do not deal with engines limited....you are only asking for problems. Cracked cylinders, sleeves etc..... $100 charges to " paint" engine with spray can...forget it.

I guess I got lucky This time .I will not use them again excuse after excuse
Heard a lot of bad things about them .
I talked directly to machine shop and dealt
with them directly that may had saved my project .Engine Limited didn't want me to do that.

I will have the results of how they stand behind my disaster of an engine shortly - sent them an email today asking for a complete refund due to nothing about the engine meeting what they promised other than the exposed cast numbers. Will give them a chance to make it good, but we will see.

I am also looking for a engine block
I need a L dated 1963 made 870 engine block
I suppose i can use a block that is built the 2 last weeks in October or all 4 weeks in November 1963 for my December 6 built 1964 coupe

I almost bought a K 63 dated block a couple of years ago but when reading this i glad i did not buy it

I would have been quite upset if i bought a engine block and got it shipped here to northern Europe to find out that it only can be used as an anchor

I found a guy today that has been very helpful and very transparent. If you want to give it a few weeks to a month until I get my block, I will give you a report both on the refund status from Engines Unlimited and the results of my order for a block today. I ordered it from Ron Dunne at Tracy Performance Corvette Parts 863 697-9586.
