I have 3-4 pieces of this particular molding laying around...have a few fixable dents but nothing major. If you give me a measurement of what you think you'll need I'll see if by some coincidence one of mine is the right length.

But wait ? Wasn't your car built and assembled with lasers ?
How could this happen ? Sorry - just couldn't resist

I have a couple of questions....

I noticed that the X-Flags holes on both sides on my car are in different locations. Should the holes be in-line with the middle spear? Can someone give me a reference measurements of where the holes should be?

Secondly....I'd like to know what is off when it comes to this lower stainless. My question are....when the front-end was put on, did they put it too far back from the door gap, or is the wheel well opening off. Since I have the 25 1/4" measurement from MASHINTER, can someone tell me the inside measurement of the wheel well that would be inline with the stainless molding?

I see all the cars have the molding right to the edge so this is bugging me.
You want a stainless restorer. John Z says "google Brightworks"

wheel well measures 33-3/4 straight along the lower stainless holes.

front flag hole is 7-1/2 below upper stainless centerline, 5-1/2 above lower stainless centerline and 4-1/2 behind wheel lip.

rear flag hole is 7-1/4 below, 5-1/2 above, 7-1/2 behind.

I ended up cutting the fenders....and made a new lip. Now what I need is the width of the lip...anyone?

Frank...in regards to using lasers....perhaps if your car looked like this, you'd need lasers to put it back together. Yes, this is how my car use to look. (see last picture)

Another reason for my favorite C1 to be the '62.

Sure. Too hot in the garage yesterday.

From just below the top stainless to below the bottom stainless:

0.497, 0.538, 0.546, 0.537, 0.554

I measured out the holes for the cross flags and I see that they are not in-line with the holes for the center spear...they are lower...before I drill them, I just want to make sure that it is correct.

Correct. Very roughly, I get the flag holes about an inch lower.

(Use the flag pins to space the holes. My measurements are way too rough.)

From your measurements, I see the flags are "centered" on the raised panel. I got them drilled and test fitted....look good! Thanks again.

I was test fitting the lower stainless that is behind the front wheel...and I question the measurement I have been given...cause when I drilled the hole, I hit one of the braces inside the car (behind the kick panel). If you look closely you can see the drill bit sticking out...is this really where the nut goes?? If I move it a couple of inches forward, I wouldn't hit the brace. There are 2 pictures...you can see where the hole is located on the outside.

Hey Mike....I didn't know there were two clips instead of T-Bolts used where the drill is.
I also thought the clips were only located at the ends around the door jam.

Can you tell me where else are just the clips and not T-bolts?

Thanks for your help.....again!

Thanks for the info...I'll check the AIM...hopefully I can find a good copy as my book is 25 years old and many of the pages are either missing or messed up.

Old thread, new question!
Would you say the crossed flags in front of the cove (and spears) has the two holes aligned with the elongated holes of the middle spear and centrally to that part part of the panel (equal distance from the wheel opening and front edge of the cove)?

P.S. Glad to see the elongated holes for the spears, I've seen in another thread where someone said their holes (on a new front clip) were just round holes .......... makes it impossible to locate the spears in position.
