Default 1966 dealer showroom poster

This popped up today on Craigslist and was only a few miles from my house. I immediately went and bought it. Now I am hoping to learn more about it. I searched eBay for current and finished auctions but cannot find another one. Does any one know if these are common or somewhat rare? Any idea of value? Its 18" x 32" thanks, Andy

Question: How do you know it's an original poster and not a reproduction?

It's thick cardboard and I am familiar with dealer pictures of the sixties. I have many original Pontiac pictures but I'm fairly new to corvette memorabilia. Also the gentleman I bought it from said his father in law had it since the 60's.

I seem them at swap meets from 500 to 1000 depending on condition and the cars on them. I never saw one of just a corvette. The ones I seen had a biger picture of a corvette coupe and convertibles and then the other Chevy cars. Very nice find.

I do wish someone would make a regular poster from the show room prints

Perhaps it is a restored poster.............the wipers are on wrong.

In dire need of an alignment too.

Here's a current eBay link.

I bought one last year and am very happy with it. A well done piece at an affordable price even though it is a reprint.

Very cool, congrats. I would love to find something like that for my '64. Guess I need to check ebay occasionally.

Default corvette showroom posters

the poster shown is a chevroet dealer showroom poster. chevrolet offered them each year for every chevrolet dealer starting in 1959. normal size is 18" x 32". they also offered frames for the dealers. the frame shown in the pic is not a factory chevrolet frame. the poster shown is for 1965 corvette. the color of the car is faded a lot. it should be a red car. the size of the poster changed to a smaller size is 2001/2002. in 1986/87, the poster went from a thick cardboard to a thinner carboard-like stock. in 1992, they changed to thin plastic. - then in 1996/97, they changed back to thin paper stock again. there is a corvette showroom poster for every year, except for 1962, 1963 and 1967. in 1963, chevrolet offered two pictures of corvette in a type of shadow box frame. there was nothing for 1962 or 1967. for the most part, the picture used for the corvette showroom poster was the same picture used in the dealer postcard for that year. i do offer factory original showroom posters for sale. i have access to most years. like anything else, the older they are, the more expensive they are. questions or comments? jim clemens - rockledge, fl. (321) 639-8431.

Jim, thanks for your input. I have two questions for you. First, you said it's for a '65 corvette but the car shown is a '66 and my picture doesn't look faded to me at all. It seems quite bright, like its supposed to be yellow. I did find one just like it for sale and its also yellow. Here is a link to it. Thanks, Andy

Your right, that is a 66 Corvette, and the 66 dealer showroom poster, but Jim is correct about the color. When new, the car on that poster, was red. It has faded, which is pretty common with red inks, and the one in the link you posted, is faded too. If you read over the description in the link, it states that the poster is "Clearly sun faded".

I collect showroom and dealer sales material, and even faded, it's a nice item to have!

Default It is faded

I guess I should of looked at it again before replying to Jim. It is faded and the very front shows just the slightest bit of red.

Earlier in this thread BB767 posted a link to a reproduced version, which shows the color better
