Yeah it's hard to tell in the pic. The ones I have are a little larger and it looks like the gasket needs to be replaced but the pillar doesn't look too bad. I'll definitely be taking a closer look when I go to inspect the car.

For $12k and it's on the road, if you had your location posted in your profile I'd be drawing a 2.5 hour circle on the map trying to find it.

Go for it, and good for you for getting the guy to talk about selling. I find all too often I know where the project cars are and talk to the owner. But I get the same old store yeah I’ll get to “that one” some day.

If its a "real" '65 Big Block hood - its worth a good amount of $$.
Be sure to sell the '65 hood separately and get a correct '64 hood for re-sale/flip.

I know of a 64 convertible with no engine, transmission, or interior, that sold for more than $12k in the past few years.
If that car isn't rusted out (frame, birdcage), it's closer to a $18k-$20k car

Look it over very well, the front end might have been bumped in the past.
Pull the glove box and look at what you can see of the birdcage there.
I'm like you, it would pull me in too.

I could spend 15 min looking at this car and if I was satisfied hand over $12K and never put the key in it.
For $12K who cares if it runs.

You guys jinxed it! I talked to the guy last night and he decided to sell the car to his best friend. I guess he must have mentioned that he was selling it and his friend wouldn't let him. Sucks! I have his friends info so if he doesn't buy the car or decides to sell it himself I'll be first in line.

This scenario has happened before, and it will happen again.
C1's and C2's are very popular cars. I don't think that will EVER change
Anytime a complete car is offered at a bargain basement price, be prepared to act IMMEDIATELY, because tomorrow it will be gone.

Ok I have just found out about a red/red 1964 Corvette. 327 4 speed, original owner, for sale near me. I'm not sure how many miles are on the car and the owner did say it probably needed a new paint job and a new interior. He claims it runs and I would probably be able to drive the car home. He's asking 12k for the car but I'm guessing he's got some wiggle room in there and I could probably get it for 10.5 or so. After some enjoyment out of the car I'll probably flip it. Should I go for it?

If you are ever lucky enough to be in this position again, as soon as you THINK you have him ready to sell, show up at his door with green cash. If security bothers you take a friend but go there and show him the money and say "I'm ready to make the deal right now".
And have a plan in place to move the car that day. Whether it's all the way home or just to a newly-rented storage place around the block, take possession as soon as it's legally yours.
The above does NOT apply if you and I are both after the same car at the same time!
