Speedo needle fell off
On a 65, if the speedo needle falls off, is there an easy way to fix this or does it mean you have to pull the entire cluster to get at the gauges?
Thanks

Same happened to me last December on the '64 on the way to a filming a television shoot (Wheeler Dealers). Mechanic want ~$1K to put it back on. Requires pulling the dash cluster (PITA) so I'll probably let him.

An experienced person or good shop should be able to remove the cluster in an hour. Repair speedo as needed and reinstall another hour.
Even if you double that, it does not come close to a $1,000 job. Time to find a good Corvette shop or new mechanic that knows these cars and won't rip you off. Pilot Dan

We are talking about Steve LuVisi and he is more knowledgable and cheaper than most anyone else with that level of expertise. You won't find a better Midyear Corvette mechanic..., period.

Most mechanics don't do speedo and gauge repairs in house. OP asked about replacing the needle not a full rebuild. If the speedo is OK, and you don't need other repairs to the cluster, needle replacement is no biggie once the speedo is out of the cluster. Just don't want to see him get ripped off if he farms this job out.

Thanks guys - I was hoping that was not my only choice but since it is I'll probably end up making a bigger project out of it and replace the wiring harness and restore the cluster while I'm at it. Figure pull the cluster just once rather than numerous times
