A/C is not that complicated if we understand how it works. Evaporation cools things, that is why you get goose Bumps when water evaporates from your skin at the Beach. Compression Heats Molecules of the Compressed Gas as it exchanges to liquid state. (Fluids are virtually uncompressible.) Different components within any system create the optimum results for the greatest cooling effect in the cabin of your car. Unfortunately for us Shade Tree Mechanics specialized equipment prevents us from tackling most A/C related work. Take some time and study your A/C and you'll be able to make good decisions in regards to A/C issue's. A Great online source for learning is the AC Forum. http://www.autoacforum.com/messagevi...&threadid=7102 Search words "Mitch or Big V" are a good place to start. Al W.

This is how i did the insulation in the outer A/C box
I bought the insulation kit from DocRebuild(great product)and also made some more insulation in the evaporator housing myself.
I also used some cement to seal where the insulation pieces meets(so the insulation will not loosen)

Default 1966 Air Conditioning Question - R12 to R134

1966 Factory air car with all AC components appearing to be complete. Disassembled all heater and AC components in preparation for conversion to R134. Upon disassembly, STV appears clean, and a new diaphragm has been installed. When reinstalling the STV the Evaporator Oil Bleed line attaches to the STV via a adapter (see photo) which has a schrader air valve!
What is the function of this valve (and the Oil Bleed Line) and does this valve need to be altered for R134?
Is this correct or is something missing?
Also, will my AC pro change the other AC fittings when he charges the system?

Thanks
