1107352 starter nose
I talked to a tach at Corvette Central who told me, per the Corvette manual, that the 352 starter for the 1965 Corvette 396 had, and has ,an aluminum nose not a cast iron nose.
I have seen it said on this Forum that the 396 Corvette , 352 starter has a cast iron nose.
Can anyone say for sure which is correct?
They(Corvette Central) say they have a rebuilt original and it has an aluminum nose, which they say is correct.
Again, does anyone know FOR SURE?
Thanks in advance!

Starter nose
The 65 396 had the small bell housing--possibly the 403, and it used a 10.5" clutch and small 153 tooth flywheel. The 352 starter did have an aluminum nose with 1 long and 1 short bolt, arranged straight across. The cast iron nose was only used with the large flywheel and the large bellhousing. From what I've been told, the cast iron nose won't even fit into a small bell housing.
