removable crossmember in a 66
I have been reading old posts about installing a removable crossmember in my 66. I have tried the phone numbers in those old posts and they have changed. it sounds like putting one in a 66 with a Tremecis possible and helpful. my car is currently in the process of removing the Tremec and it is a bitch with the engine still in. I would like to make the next removal easier by putting in a removable crossmember. any current sources for such a crossmember? any suggestions for making the job easier?things to worry about? Is it easier to do once the tranny is out? possible to do with the tranny in?

I found a 69 Automatic cross member for a friend and it was not hard at all. If you can get all the brackets from an original frame you won't need to fab a lot, just some mods to the trans mount. All you need is a sawsall and a mig.

I made the center section of the trans cross member removable on the 65 when I put the Richmond trans in. It took some work but glad I did it. I did it with the trans out and the body on.
