Oil Pan Question
Hi Gang,
I've got a '65 with a 502 crate motor installed. It was done by a previous owner, and a pretty nice job. But... the 502 came with a 7 quart oil pan and it's too low. Here's a picture of the installed motor, but I don't have a picture of the oil pan. It's too ugly - and it's been wacked a bunch of times.
Does anyone know who makes a nice oil pan that wouldn't hang down as low? The oil pan also needs to clear the power steering cylinder.
Thanks,
Darcy

I would suggest any stock Hi-Perf BB pan would be fine, but be aware, you will probably have to change the pump pick up if you go to a shallower pan.

Actually, I was looking over some 502 GM info and found a reference to a different oil pan that GM makes in case of clearance problems.

This might do the trick!

Oil pan
Get the current GM replacement pan for a B/B Corvette. It holds 5 quarts and will clear a windage tray and studs if you currently use them. As the last poster said, you will probably have to change the oil pump pickup with the shallower pan.
