Default 64 Back-Up lights

Hi All,
Where is the power source for back-up lights on a 64 coupe.
Is it a single connector with a black wire with a green tracer?
thanks,
John

See your Assembly Manual, section T86, sheet 1.00; where it shows item #32, that's the ignition and wiper motor wiring that comes through the firewall grommet from the dash harness. Part of that is an "L"-shaped male connector with a pink wire (ignition-switched power) and a green wire (feed to backup lights). That connector mates with a female "L"-shaped connector that's on the end of the pigtail wire from the transmission-mounted backup light switch. That connection is shown just above item #32.

The switch on the transmission just closes the circuit when you shift into reverse - connects pink (power) to green (backup lights).

Thanks John,
Attached is a picture of my rear harness, what is the single connector for?

That's not the rear harness - that looks like the branch of the dash harness with the curved "harmonica" connector at the steering column; none of that goes through the firewall hole.

John,
The connector is flat. The brown wire at the bottom of the picture goes to the heater switch for the rear blower (coupe).
The connector in question is the single wire at the top of the picture.
It's a black wire with a green tracer.
John

p.s. this is the rear body connector

'64 was a funky year for wiring diagrams, and none of mine show that single wire and connector anywhere near the body harness connector. Maybe someone else with a '64 can take a look for that black/green wire.

The only place I see the use of a Black with Light Green tracer (B/LG) in the 65 Shop Manual Supplement is for the headlight dimmer switch. No use of B/LG in the Body and Tail Lamp section in 65.

No use of B/LG shown anywhere in the wiring diagrams in the 1963 Shop Manual.

Odd, but maybe the 64 was different from the 63 and the 65 - funky, as John so eloquently put it

I am only left to guess it is for the rear courtesy lamp

Thank you all for your help.
If I figure this out I will post my findings.
