1966 327/300 SN 1643

Saw your block on Craigslist in the Houston TX Area

Bought as a 1967 Vette motor, after running the numbers below, I come up with a 1966 327 300hp motor. Was going for a period look under the hood of my 64 C10 I am building, but decided to go the LS route instead, so this needs to go. Internal condition unknown, as I bought this as a rebuilder. It was used in a 67 Vette for a few years while the big block motor was being rebuilt, so it was a runner.

No flywheel, harmonic balancer or valve covers.

Includes a couple boxes of extra parts like ram horn manifolds, pulleys, alternators, power steering pumps, clutch fan, down draft tube, couple oil fill tubes and era correct Edelbrock C4B.

Motor # front pad: F092IHE (I is read as 1)
Motor # rear pad: 3858174
Heads #: 3782461 / F186

Pulling the motor on my '62. It is a 327 300hp. Cast date I275 Cast number 3858174 vin 6102491 F0o23HF. My plan is to not re-install it. Would be cool if it found it's way back to the original car.

Default 64 documentation

I have registration receipts for 1964 convertible VIN # 40867S111629 dated 1973 and 75 in Jefferson County, Texas. The last I knew of the car it made its way out to California. It is a 300 hp, PG, Factory A/C car with other options. If you have the car give me a call and I can provide you with other information.

Default 1961 270HP engine and trans

100372 F090 CU

Pretty much have everything air cleaner to pan, fan to trans, exhaust manifold to exhaust manifold with the exception of the matching heads.

Includes Dual WCFB carbs, generator, etc.

Don't have an intention to sell, but if someone has the car to go with it...

This engine has been in my family since 1962.

Actually, I believe that's a 1960 Corvette block. 1960 didn't prefix the "0" in the vin derivative, and the leading "1" is common to all derivatives of the era.

The 1961 would be 1100372, the 1960 is 100372.

What is the cast date on the right rear of the block? I suspect it'd be Hxx9 or Ixx9. More than likely a H (August) based on the F0905 or F0906(can't read the day very well). However the 5th and 6th was a Sat/Sun. Maybe Flint worked that Labor day weekend? Labor day was the 7th in 1959.

The cast date is that......."B27 0".... if it's a B. That's a '60 block because of the "0".

Can you get a better look at that "x27 0"section? Maybe the "B" isn't really a "B". Maybe it's a "G".....July. ??

I blew that pic up 400x, I thought it might be an "L." But, the top and bottom outside edges are corners, telling me its gotta be a "B." Kinda damaged a little in the letter upper right.

I think it is the letter "D"

Would that make more sense?

Yes it looks like a "D", but April 27, 1960 is confusing. It's a early production '60 engine by the numbers stamped. And as mentioned it appears to be a 1960 vin.

I'd have thought for that early vin# it'd be a '59 cast block. Maybe others can take a look. Maybe ask on the General forum and link to these posts.
