215 60 r15?
Is anyone running these? I have 215 70 R15 but they have a little too much sidewall for my liking. Curious if anyone has tried these. Would also give a 1" drop if I did the math right.
Thanks,
Don

I ran 225/60's on my `65 and they looked good with the body lowered about 1.5", reducing the gap at the top. IMO, 215/60's without lowering would look like the 13's they use on low riders.

Ok I am in one of those moods to help!!!!
215 60 15 would on a 1963/64 with drum be perfect on 7 inch 3-3/4 backspace. It would be right at the lip and look mean!!!!! You should be able to cut a coil in the front if F-41 and they would rub at full u-turns, like most 7 inch rims would. On a disc brake 65-67 if would move them out and you I would guess would have to shave the inner fender lip on the rear, might be OK on the front. They would work-- only worth it if you get Z rated tires, because they are sold I think in this smaller size!!! How is that for a technical helpful answer!

If it's a mid year, it will look funny with such a small diameter tire in my opinion.

Are you staying with stock rims and just changing tire size?
I just went through changing tires AND wheels out on my 64 with drums.
Here's a link I bookmarked from my readings.............

Here's a fun tool to play with as far as changing tire size......

and yet another...I told you I just went through this....................

and least but not last, eye candy for new wheels and tires..............

With the car dropped.
That diameter will be fine! My opinion is that a 16" rim/tire would have been the perfect size for this car body type and dimension, but 16" tires are disappearing! And I think 17" just don't look Vintage correct or proportional to me (personal taste!). I have alot of used tire shops out here, for about $20, they if they have that size used will test fit one on my rim or something similar to that size tires.

Burning Brakes
Running P245/60R15 on mine. Stock wheels, no spacers and no rubbing. Dropped about an inch and looks great. Had to recalibrate speedometer.

I, like Old Vet, am running 215 x 65/R15's black wall Michlin Defenders. They fill the wheel wells nicely with stock, correct 15x5 1/2 '65 steel wheels.

Thanks for all the replies. Here is a pic of my car. It was like this when I purchased it. Too much sidewall for my liking. Yokohama tires.

Your front appears a bit lower than the rear. Some 8" spring bolts in the rear could get it more even.
The next step would be to cut 1 coil from the front and use the 8" bolts in the rear. That's what I did and even that looks a bit high.
225/60/15" on 7" wide Western Wheels.
