New owner here... 64 in need of resto
Hi folks, someone suggested a new post now that I've completed my search and pulled the trigger.
It's been a long search - so long that I got a little reckless and bought at a distance without seeing it myself. Got some great help from a forum member and my hero son who went to gather it up for me. Plan is first to get it road worthy, then spend the long winter having the body done by the pros and the frame at home for a long overdue clean up.

I'll have to take a spin down there to get an assessment. But I've been working with Ron up in Fitchburg to evaluate cars and I'm very impressed with his place and the examples I have seen there.

Now that we have it off the trailer there are a few priorities. It won't idle. Starts up pretty quick but runs very rough and dies as soon as you let off the gas. I'm thinking the carb is a mess. How challenging to is it rebuild the Carter?
The other thing is the steering wheel is not installed correctly. The seller had picked up a replacement directional switch and had the wheel off to replace it. I don't think he got it back together right. It's very loose and I can hear a relay clicking under the hood when I wiggle the loose wheel. There's also a clamp just hanging on the shaft where it enters the engine compartment. I hope all the pieces are there.
I think if I can get these two items cleared up I can take a few spins before the snow files.

Brakes and fuel system should be first orders of business to getting it running if it's been sitting a while. Rebuilding the carb is a good idea but make sure you address the fuel tank if it's been sitting a while before you try to start it.

DennisThere is definitely contamination in the gas. I can see some water in a filter on the line. Need to clean it all out.
