Default Barry Toycraft corvette go cart

Hi, I tried the collectible section to no avail. Just wondering if someone on the forum has or did have one of the 1963 promo go carts offered to chevy dealers in 1963? I just purchased one and am looking for any info possible. These are generator driven by a 12 volt battery capable of 4-6 mph. These only came in Riverside Red. Very seldom do you get the opportunity to purchase these carts. I have the "Big Brother" 63 same color and that is why I purchased this. I would post photos but not very good at that, Thanks for any info, Greg

A very good friend of mine and a Corvette lover won one back in 1963 at a drawing when GM brought the displays around to shopping centers. He said he entered the drawing over and over and over for 3 or 4 days and he won it. Said he kept it till about 1990 and was tired of moving it when ever they would move from home to home or town to town so he sold it at a garage sale back in about 1990 for $50.00. Had he only known now what he knows he never would have sold it back then. It is worth BIG BUCKS now. But it is like anything else, you never know what will bring the Big Bucks in 10 or 20 yrs. from now or you would buy them all and tell our kids don't sell it for 20 yrs. and it will be worth lot more then compared to what it is now.

Hi Mike, I got word of it through a friend who was talking to someone at a Corvette swap meet and knowing I have a 63 Riverside Red roadster thought I would be interested. One thing led to another and I ended up purchasing it. The fellow has had it since 1991 and just never got the time to put it all back together. Motor/ generator is dated Jan 17/1963. Did a frame off on my 63 and now doing one on the "Mini" 63. Is your friend who sold his at a garage sale still in contact? I have no idea how many are still in existence. Thanks, Greg

Greg:
I was trying to buy that from the seller, but you had a better offer...congrats.
The seller is a member of our NW NCRS Chapter.

I did not know much about them either, but did some research when I saw the ad and got some photos...there is a forum with a lot of help there. I got access throught the website that was provided in the previous post.

Default Here are some good pictures! I have others!

This one should have been accepted into the 2013 Pebble Beach Concourse D Elegance and taken Best of Show. But they chose to accept the old scraggly L-88 White Roadster!!!! Go figure!

Come on, get busy-- get to work!

I am trying to find the correct 12 volt motor or a part number for the motor. I have not been able to locate one or any info about the motor. I am also looking for a good picture of the tag that told what number the car is. Any picturs or information would be a big help.

Hi, from what I understand there is a tag attached under the body that tells when it was produced. Mine is very difficult to read. The motor is made by Delco Remy and again the tag on the motor is hard to make out. I will try to figure a way to make it stand out better. Do you have one of the cars or are you just looking for a motor?

I have one of these 1963 Barry Toycraft corvettes. My grandfather won it in a raffle at a state fair in the 60's. If anyone is interested in this please email me and I can provide pics. This was in our family barn until last week. My email is edtubb3rd@gmail.com.

I had a 63 roadster body on a go kart and I put on the cookie sheets and grill and rockers, tail lights and a few other things and it was painted White. The reason white was because I had a White 63 SWC at the time and I took them both to the NCRS Winter Regional's in FL. a couple years ago and sold it to a guy in the Netherlands and gave him the real deal 63 SWC. Of course he did pay dearly for the 63 roadster go kart. He said he would keep the big car and give the little car to his grand child who was not born yet. Now I wish I would have kept the darn thing. Oh well you can't keep everything.
