Default Borg Warner T-10

Just recently had a T-10 overhauled and put in my 61. Did not have any previous history with the tranny since it had a Muncie in it before. Initially I didn't seem to notice the problem, but after awhile and only when the transmission is "Cold" it seems to be rather hard to shift into second gear when the car is moving. Not moving or starting out in second no problems. Using Sta Lube 85W 90 GL-4. The other gears seem fine and once heated up all is good. The linkage (New) and clutch(New) adjustment seem to be good. Second gear was replaced along with 1st and 3rd. Is this something that might get better with use? It has been suggested to me that it could require a break in period. Appreciate any words of wisdom. Thanks.

I have the exact same situation. T-10 was rebuilt about two months ago, new syncros, new second gear. Grinds a little going into second if I shift slow. As you say, shifts great when it warms up. they told me there is a break-in period. I just don't know how long. Think I'll give it a couple of more weeks, then I'll take it back in if it's not any better.

59BlueSilver, after a proper rebuild it should not grind in any gear at any time. I would take it back to the rebuilder.

Kzmann, if your rebuilder used the new 'Torque Lock' slides people have said it is a little difficult to shift when new but gets easier as time passes.
