Default Need help with Engine ID

'66 coupe - NOM. Casting appears to be a 350 block with a casting number of 3970010. Stamp pad read:

K01 21 H or 11

That's all I could get off of the pad.

All help appreciated.

Just a WAG but K might mean the engine assembly plant in St Catherines, Ontario Canada.

010 blocks are supposed to be a higher nickel content than others. Some say it's not any stronger but who knows! Just my 3 cents!

That myth has been disproven many times over. The 010 and/or 020 under the cover are mold numbers representing the two engine casting numbers they are associated with.

3970010 is probably the most common casting number block ever issued by GM, there's millions of them around.

As the other poster mentioned, an assembly code that starts with K would be for the McKinnon Industries plant in St. Catherines Ontario.

Yeah, who even knows about the nickel content. Bunch of bull if you ask most people.

GM knows, precisely. No secret.
