My dad's new '66
Did a little black Friday shopping last week and found a deal on this baby at Turkey Rod Run in Daytona Beach. 1966. Just got her home yesterday. The previous owner(well, previous to the dealer we bought it from), owned the car for 37 years. A "Barn Find" so to speak, it had one repaint years ago but it is showing some wear now, you can't see it too good in the pictures but the paint has a very cool "patina" look to it. Its a 20 footer for sure though. We will probably drive it for a year or so and then maybe have it painted. Not 100% sure yet.

Congratulations to him. The button/diamond upholstery is indicative of the '70's. Take a look at the rear spring. It might be a recent replacement resulting in the raised rear. Does it have a BB hod? Dennis

Very nice Cobra 4! As an owner of a car with a 38 year old re-paint...
...I know well the cool paint patina and imperfections that you speak of! So be it, embrace them. A suggestion; once you get the paint buffed as good as it'll get, have some paint mixed to match yours (with new technologies they can get pretty darn close) and use that to touch up all those problem areas you might find. Then maintain it as best you can and don't ever consider repainting it unless you're planing on a full, show car restoration. Enjoy the patina and forget about trying to make it perfect. You'll be much more relaxed about driving it and if it gets another chip (which it will) no big deal. Get out your touch up paint and fix it. Yours looks to be a wonderful driver, a car you can drive and enjoy as it is and not be obsessed about. Drive and enjoy it. Congratulations on such a nice find!

Convertible with both tops, side pipes, uncut wheel wells, good old paint, at least a 350 hp engine and 4 speed. What's not to love? I'm with BB767. No way I would repaint this car. Old patina paint on a driver is the only way to go. I'd even fix the splits in the diamond tuck and leave that too. Take that NCRS! Love the look! Nice buy!

Nice find with a little stuff added from back in the day. Forget what we tell you to do with the car....it's yours, so do what you will. Update, gussy it up or drive as is....enjoy.

Pretty good! He still gets around and does his thing. We didn't stay too long at the expo this year, we drove a Chevelle over on Friday, found all the parts we were looking for and ended up selling the car while we were there so we decided since it was mission accomplished we'd just skip Saturday.

Never mind the Corvette. Tell me about the '62 Plymouth in the background of the first picture.

Nothing special, it was originally built to be a police car, certified speedo and all, pretty odd for a two door. Then at some point(as the story goes) it had a 426 Wax Wedge stuff into it. At one point the car had fender well headers so I assume it spent plenty of time on the track. When we got it she had the factory style 3" with cut outs under it like a lot of the cars came with. It was rusty so it appeared to have been there for years. We've since had it replaced with new. One of the fastest cars I've ever say down behind the wheel of. When it gets traction that is

[QUOTE=Cobra_4;1585625975]That's definitely the plan for now! I'd think the car would look awesome with a set of old school torque thrusts or some other kind of period correct mag.
I agree on the Torque Thrusts!
Great looking car!! Drive it like it is and have fun with it! My paint is older and a bit rough on my '66, but that lets me drive and enjoy a LOT more than I would if it was perfect! I think your interior looks really cool too!

Took her out for a spin last night! It's got a few normal minor issues but nothing major, needs a little fine tuning but the brakes are good, transmission is smooth, drives straight as an arrow. Gonna try and get some more seat time this weekend if its nice!
