Interesting little part which millions were likely made. GM Part# 5954892 from '58 to '82 Corvettes, and so many other GM cars.

Plug in that part# here and many models & trucks will be shown.

I once had a NOS pair of GM buckets with T3's, retainers and rings. They could adapt to many GM vehicles as well as Corvette, and only required different riveted screw-retainer brackets(Lug Package) for the various models outer headlamp bezels.

yes I know what you mean about the tensioner spring, I just had a look at my old ones and there are two mounting tabs and a circular hole for the tension spring. A lot of the ones I have seen on eBay have 3 mounting tabs and some have elongated holes for the tensioner spring (as opposed to a circular hole) and some have some sort of a slot.
I ended up purchasing a decent looking set for $15 that are exactly like the ones that I am going to replace on my 58.

I went through some trouble a while ago on a '59 restoration. Someone changed the bulb cups(dogdish) on one side(where there was prior accident repair) to the 2 tab design. IIRC, originals were the 3 screw/tab design and the spring hooked on to the dogdish. Below you can see the cutout for the spring.

Some used the dogdish with only 2 screw tabs and the spring hooked into a hole for the bulb ring. But I believe these were on other GM cars of the era. I'm unsure which ones.

The '58-62 had 4 unique dogdishes, but IIRC the 63-67 had just 2 unique dogdishes as they changed the mounting tabs inside the headlight buckets. Then in 1968 to 1982 they changed back to the 4 dogdish design again.

My headlamp buckets have a round cut out, I've seen some square off types as well.
