Default 65 distributor bearing removal?

I found the distributor shaft was badly worn at the bottom bushing. I have received most of the new parts to rebuild my distributor. Are there any tips or tricks to remove the upper and lower bearings? The new bearings haven't arrived yet, but should be here shortly.
Are there any specific instructions on how to set the mesh of the main shaft gear of the distributor to the tach. drive gear?
Thanks.
Brian

your distributor (if it`s a factory cast iron unit) has bushings not bearings, you can thread a tap into the bottom bushing and tap it out from the other side, I would do the bottom and then check the fit of your new shaft as the top bushing usually does not need to be replaced. I find the lower bushings then need to be honed to fit the shaft.

There's an excellent article on distributor rebuild on Dave Fiedler's site, www.tispecialty.com.
