Default How do you convert a single to a duel master cly.

Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on converting a manual single master cyl brakes to a double master cyl on my 66 coupe. Want to do this just for safety reasons and was wondering what needs to be done in terms of a dist block and or proportioning valve. Also does anyone have a part number for a good master cyl that will work with a 66 BB setup. Thanks.

Hi Corby,

This is a very popular Kit that is available from most C2 suppliers (Ecklers, Zip etc).

See attached.

There is no proportioning valve, it's just a switch assembly that was used on the '67s but is of no use on your '66. I did this conversion on my '66 coupe with a kit -- possibly from Zip Products but it's been many years and I don't remember for sure. The kit I got had everything needed -- M/C, distribution block, new brake lines (and the '67 switch assembly that's not needed) It all went together fairly easily. You have to run a new line from the master cylinder to the rear brakes, which wasn't the easiest job I've ever tackled but it wasn't too bad.
