Default Reproduction Fuel Gauges 1959 1960 1961 1962

Anyone have any luck with repro 1959, 60, 61, 62 fuel gauges? I'm on my 2nd one and it's incorrectly reading just as the first one ultimately failed.

The first one was fine, for a while, then always pegged, then below E. Intermittent. I tested the fuel sender, reads fine, from 0 to apx 100 ohms. I checked grounds, power, sender wire etc.

edit.....I have a bad gauge AND a bad sender. The sender should read 0 to 30 ohms. I was thinking C2....0 to 90. The 1st gauge stays stuck at E with bench power and pot at 30 ohms. If I tap the needle to the right, it goes to full.

If I remove power, as the needle returns to E, I reconnect power. I then get a reaction by turning the pot. When the gauge needle gets to 1/2 full, I disconnect power and "sender" lead to check resistance at 1/2 full reading. It's 1.6k ohms.

I think they're all made by K & B Special Products in Georgia. There is no vendor ID in the instructions, however at the end of each gauge instruction it has this abbreviation......KBSP.

FYI, their repro TEMP Gauge works fine, as well as their repro Ammeter.

Rich

edit....I need to pull the 2nd gauge and bench test with the 0-30 ohm pot. I believe it's good. The sender is bad, reads 95 ohms with 1/4 tank of fuel.

Summary, bad sender, and bad gauge(1st one). What are the odds of that? My luck this week.
