Default 67 Trip Odometer location

I have a nasty cold.. .so am staying inside today (sadly, the nicest day of the year so far... and with an unheated garage, days like this are golden!)

Anyway,

Where does the trip odometer go?

so I did a full restoration on my dash new wires etc but forgot to install that darn trip meter. Do you think it can be done without losing the dash? I really dont want to pull the dash away again. I've been living with my mistake for about a year so its on my list to make right.

I serious doubt you'll get the trip odometer cable on without at least pulling the dash forward some. I wish I had never put mine in the '63 - it destroyed my main odometer. Apparently, if the little trip **** stays in the "reset" position (that tightly kinked cable lets this happen quite often); it nukes the main odometer when you start driving.

Some folks here have actually fabricated covers to keep the **** from getting pushed in by an errant knee or what-have-you...

I don't think so. However, pulling the dash away to give room should be simple enough. Just replace the mounting screws with a few 1/4x20 long bolts, disconnect the oil line, loosen the steering column mount and escutcheon, drop the A/C vent if equipped, and then pull the cluster forward towards the driver's seat.

I believe that should give you enough room to get the Trip odometer cable in there and connected.

well maybe its a good thing I forgot. It really doesn't bug me however I'do want the car as perfect as I can make her. I guess I'll wait I have the original cable maybe I'll change it so it doesn't get stuck.
