The 3721SBs are pretty common...I think they were even an over-the-counter replacement carb back in the day. Prob not worth a ton of money...
That is the carb somebody put on my '63 when the original WCFB went bad...

Do you still have your AFB carb. What is the condition and how much do you want for it?

Went through this recently with my car. The Carter AFB 3721S was used on early 64 models with manual transmissions. It was used for about 2 months from September 1963 until early November 1963. In November 1963, the 3721S had an engineering revision and became the 3721SA. This was used for the next year on manual transmission cars built from November 1963 until November 1964. At that time, another revision occurred and it was redesigned 3721SB. It was used from November 64 until the end of the 1965 model year. All of these carbs were installed on the 300HP engine.

I would guess that the 3721SB was used on a few thousand corvettes during the 1965 model year. April 1965 is the correct date. I don't know if it was used on any other model car.

The same specs and revisions can be applied to the AFB 3720S which was the designation for the powerglide version. The rarest (read not necessarily valuable) would be the 3720S used from mid September 63 until early November 63. Probably 200-300 used.

Yeah, I know, way too much information but I've got to dump this crap from my brain so I have room for something more useful.

The same carb was used on 300hp passenger cars, so you can multiply that number by about 40.

I've been trying to research which AFB would be correct for my 1964 327/300 #68 made on the first day of production, Sept.1,1963. In Noland Adams Restoration Guide his sampling of early 64's indicates the continuation of the use of the 1963 AFB 3461S through production number of at least car #1500 and not the use of the 3721S.
I'm not disputing your info above, but would like to know if you have any knowledge or detail on what AFB might be correct for my car. I would like to search for a proper carb but don't know what would be the correct one with date code H. Dave

Yes, I have read that also. The "Corvette by the Numbers" book also states that very early (first few days of production) 64s used the 3461S. I think it is very possible, and maybe even likely, that your car used that carb. Perhaps someone with another early car will chime in.

JProp, It's good to know that there's a second resource that gives the same info on the use of the 3461S. I wasn't aware of that. It gives me more confidence that the carb I should be looking for is the 3461S. Thanks. Dave

That posting was for another person. If he still has it, we don't know. But, you can call Bill at 423-272-8307. He is located in Rogersville, TN area. Identify yourself as calling about the Carb. Good luck.

I can tell you first hand that I have seen the 3461S on a original 1964 300hp car. I can't tell you what the serial # is except to say I remember it was a early car, 1000-2000 serial probably.

If your car is #68 you need the 3461S, I don't know if that's good news or not $$$. :-)

Well the good news is that now I'm much more sure about what I need. Thank you for that! The engine block isn't original to the car so it's not numbers correct but it's good to know about the 3461S in case I stumble upon one. Until this thread today, I wasn't sure. Dave

Dave,

FWIW, the 3721SB is the final version of that AFB and it's a very good carburetor plus it's the service carburetor for the others. Everything bolts up perfect and I am sure lots less $$, don't be afraid to use it.
