67 vert 427/396
i'm lookin to buy this one but need some counseling from the gurus here
1967 vert, manual tranny,427/396, sidepipes, 2500 miles since ground up restoration, claimed as matching motor and tranny numbers. Need to know some comfort on price numbers or ranges. Over all the car looks like it just came out of the showroom. No NCRS certs paper, is there anything special i should look or ask for? thanks folks.

67 corvette
It appears to me that there is something wrong with the 427/396 part.
In 1965 the corvette had the first Big block. It was a 396 cubic inch/425HP.
In 66 the vette Big block was a 427 cubic inch 390 HP or 425 HP. Then in 67 the vette Big block was a 427 cubic inch 390 HP or a 400HP or a 435 HP.
I would assume that the 427/396 might be a typo. And 427/390 might be what it is. It would have a single carburetors on the 390 HP.And a try power,3 carburetors on the 400 HP and the 435 HP.

You need to find someone who knows corvettes and pay them to do an inspection for you. Not only do you need to know the validity of the "number matching" piece you need to understand the condition.
Depending on these inspection results, you can then begin to truly understand what you are looking at and then you can begin to decide the price. Too many cars that fit your description that are really a pig with lipstick waiting for someone to come along and take the bait.
BTW: The C2 big block corvette market has more big blocks being claimed as original today than were originally produced...especially the 67s.
Just protect yourself and do your homework, and if you end up buying that car, drive it like you stole it!!
Good luck,
Frank
