Roomiest enclosed car trailer anyone has seen...
I have an enclosed car 20' trailer that is in good shape...but it isn't very user friendly. It's a little too narrow and the fender wells are dangerously close to the rocker panels on my '61.
I use a trailer about twice a year...and it sits in an open enclosure the rest of the time. I want the cheapest, enclosed, no frills, white exterior, car trailer I can find. ...possibly with the floor above the tires to eliminate the fender well obstruction....and wider than legal in some states if x-tra wide trailers are built anywhere.
Does anyone know where a trailer like this can be bought...or have made?
Thanks...Stan

102" is the max width allowed in almost every state. (Hawaii 108", but you probably aren't hauling there...LOL). Some states it's actually 96" with 102" only on some roads. You might be able to find a deck over enclosed trailer, but it's going to be awfully tall.
For the most part, all the trailer will have the same space inside. A large door in the side above wheel wells that allows you to swing the door outside when entering, exiting helps. I guess you could get one on both sides.
You can put 2x12 blocks screwed screwed to the floor of the trailer and drive on them to be strapped down. That will get your doors up another 1 3/4" above the inner fenders.
If you just need more storage/hauling space, go 24'.

I purchased a Montrose trailer last year, 20' long, 102" wide, all aluminum. Best access I have seen. C1 doors clear the fenders.

Very Nice Charles...that would eliminate the need for wider. Much more money than I will spend for the way my trailer will be used and treated though.
Donnie ...another beaut of a trailer. How wide wall to wall inside?
63split..Thats a very good price...do you have the name of the company by chance?
I live right down the road from a trailer parts manufacturing company...but they don't build trailers. I've bought numerous axles and fenders to repair trailers from them in the past...including custom width axles.
I have a 20' foot open trailer that would be easy to widen to any width...and had thought about just building my own custom enclosed trailer using it. Trouble is I'm just not getting any younger ...and that type of project isn't very appealing to me any more.
Maximum legal width plus four inches per side sure would make life easier wouldn't it....LOL! Wonder what the fine would be for an 8" over width trailer..?

Much cheaper than I have found...thanks Bill.
I'm not familiar with round tube wall framing though...I'll check them both out.

Stan , for the amount of towing you're planning on doing, you might want to check out Racing Junk dot com.

There is a plethora of trailers on this site for sale and some of the prices are just mind boggling. I'm always amazed at what people will spend on a new trailer, use it for a few years and then sell for a song when they lose interest.
I have a 22' I bought new more than 20 years ago and it has more than paid for itself in a number of ways. 22' is a good length for almost any generation Corvette, but the width inside of some of the older trailers (8') gets real tight for C4's and even worse for C5's - C7's. Most of the newer trailers have gone to 8.5' and 6" can be a blessing.
Good luck... GUSTO

Yeah, me too most times Big D...in fact I have an open car trailer. But I plan on traveling a little in my motor home ...and want an enclosed trailer to protect my Corvette when traveling.
Outa sight, outa , mind sorta thing. Plus if I'm a long way from home...It would be protected from bad weather.. like hail.

a lost a generator and picked up more than a few rock chips on the open trailer.......
then there was the race where I towed in the rain and had 4 inches of standing water in the car............
I loved my open trailer until I went enclosed.

I was going to buy from them but I found a like new trailmark for the same price with a lot more upgrades and larger axles. Used is the best way to go but trying to find good used enclosed trailers is like finding hen's teeth. I looked for 9 months before I found mine.
