Sunray DX L88 '67 history
I am looking for a good example of a '67 L88 racing car to research as a good example of a barn find nd I am thinking of the Sunray 1967 L88 coupe but aside from a letter to a forum from Bob Luebbee saying he turned down the car for $2000 about the time the team got their '68 because it was felt the aero on the '67 was flawed, I can't find mention of what the car was advertised for or sold for through the first few owners who, afer Sunray were:
Dave Laughlin
Tom Rynone
Dave Dempsey (bought in 1990)
I don't know the owners after Dempsey but for sure by then it was a hot collectible, I'm more interested in its price when it was just an old beat up race car.
thanks for any info

You might want to contact a NCRS member Chuck Pelton or something like that. He is the L88 guru

You might also want to talk to Kevin MacKay at Corvette Repair who did some restoration the no.9 car, I'm not sure if he even owns the car...

Harry Yeagy owns the 67 LeMans #9 car. A friend of mine owns the 67 Sunray DX car #8 . I've notified him of the discussion here so we will see if he is interested in joining the discussion.

The 67 L-88 number 9 car was on display at last year's Monterey Reunion. Info card on the car said the owner was Harry Yeaggy.

Guys always get these two cars mixed up!
The LeMans #9 is a different L-88 than the Yenko DX car (I think currently in #8). The LeMans car was missing (stolen for awhile back then) and then found and was up at Monterey.
But Two different cars!
Yes The LeMans cars had some DX sponsoring there at one point stuck on it, but the DX car is a different L-88 car!

Your right, I always get those two mixed up. The owner is a friend of mine too and we spoke at Kissimmee this year. He is restoring the car and I am sure that it will be beautiful when its completed.

I'm sure that Richard Prince will be happy to learn that the car is being restored. 10-12 years ago the bidding at Monterey topped out in the mid- 900 thousand - must have been a bad restoration that the later guy paid 7 figures for because he didn't notice either.
