Default Anybody running 225/70R15s ?

I know the closest to stock in a radial is 205/70R15. But I want a little more tread width. 225s have a 6.4 tread width and 27.3 height.
Currently I run 215/75R15s on Knock Offs.
Just wondered if they will fit.
Thanks
Larry

I've done it before. They come real close to the body work, fender lips and front fender behind the turn signal. They will rub the frame rails, but it's benign, as there is nothing there to cut them. If I remember right, I had them on 4.25" backspace 7" rally wheels, which required about a 1/4" spacer in the rear. And, you'll probably need to tie the parking brake cable to the trailing arm for clearance. I use a big stainless hose clamp.

I'm running 225/65R15 now. They are a little shorter and fit very nicely. Unfortunately, that size is no longer sold.

If I stay with 15" for the next set, I'll find some speed rated 215/70's.

woodsdesign & 66since71,

I did a search and that size is sparce out there but here's a link in a Pirelli:

Don't know the cost but it's definitely a high speed tire with a 12 month wear warranty (so it's got to be a gripper).

I have 225 70 R15 tires on rally wheels on my 65 coupe.
The only problem is that the fronts rub the frame when fully turned.
I prefer a taller tire like a 205 75 R15.

I'm running them Repro AR bolt-on knock-offs on a 63.
I really like the look, but they do rub when I turn sharp left or right.
I expect that when I change the tires I'll go with a 215 instead for piece-of-mind.

When you say they rub, where exactly do they rub? Frame or bodywork?

Thank you... GUSTO

Mine rub the frame behind the tire center line.
I have a nice shinny spot on the frame rail.

My front left 225/60/15s rub the carriage bolt for the steering box on a locked left turn. This is the kind of thing that you only do when parking in tight quarters. It does no harm.

I was thinking about Diamond Back because I want Red Lines. However, I don't want to take the chance they won't fit, especially at their prices.
Thanks for the input guys.

Sir; Which 215/75/15 tires do you have & how do you like them ?
Any fit issues ? Rubbing ?

I am debating between 215/75/15's, of which the best tire I have
found so far is the Firestone Destination LE II, or a set of 225/70/15
Radial T/A's which will probably rub, stock wheels.

215/75/15's 27.8" diameter 8.7 wide
225/70/15 27.4 9.0
FR7815 27.4

I have a driveway issue, and with FR7815 I scrape the frame rail
under the seat, 4.5" clearance to ground at said rail on flat garage
floor, specs say 5" ground clearance ???

I was running Firestones 215 75 R 15. I had an issue when I made a left turn, hitting a bump (driveway) and cutting the wheel hard. The tire barely hit my fender causing a small crack. It didn't happen often buy once is to much. I purchased new Michelin's last year 215 70 R15 and there are no issues. I think some guys are running 225s but I would check. Each car is a little different so you never know.

215-70's were what I finally decided on..not too thick, not too thin...just right.
