Default [PIC] Bruce Springsteen's 1964 Corvette

I knew he had a Corvette in his younger days as it was recently shown as part of a Springsteen Rock N Roll collection at a Philadelphia museum. But turns out he also has a Black 1964 Corvette he keeps out in LA.

Here he is with his wife Patti Scialfa getting into the classic Sting Ray following an afternoon of shopping in Los Angeles.

Well The Boss and I have one thing in common- we know the prettiest Sting Ray year to own!

But I'm still looking for a 396 with Fuelly heads...rarer than an L88

The Museum in Philadelphia, was the National Constitution Center, located across from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

The Springsteen exhibit was there in 2012, and the Corvette that was on display was his black 60. I think it's the same car, that he purchased in the 70's, but I'm pretty sure it was dark blue back then.

There's a well known picture of him with the 60, taken around 78. He's leaning against the front of the 60, which has deep dish Cragers, and white lettered tires on it. The picture has appeared in a number of books and other places, over the years. It was taken in Haddonfield NJ, which is only a short distance from me.

I never quite understood the thinking behind doing the Springsteen exhibit, at the Constitution Center. Normally, the exhibits feature US history related subjects. I don't recall them featuring any other rock "icons" there.

"No."

It's a line from his (still very moving) song "Racing in the Street..."

"I've got a 69 Camaro with a 396, fuelie heads and a 4 on the floor", in Springsteen's own words. From his song, "Racing in the Streets".

Did anyone else notice the wheel covers on his 64. No spinners! They're 64 service replacement covers, first offered in 67, after the Feds decided that spinners on wheels and/or wheel covers, were dangerous to pedestrians.

You're obviously not a Springsteen fan.

That statement made perfect sense to me.

I do like some of the Bosses songs. I am a big fan of Born to Run. I just don't have all his albums and never herd of that song or lyric

Funny how I opened this topic while listening to the Racing in the Street (paramount version on DVD) and found you guys already talking about it! One of my favorites (list of Boss' favorites is mile long). Boss has got quite an extensive collection of cars. On one of the fan club forums someone posted tons of pictures of his cars and there were many vettes in that collection.

Another one of my favorites is Lost in the Flood, which also has great lyrics.

That pure American brother, dull-eyed and empty-faced
Races Sundays in Jersey in a Chevy stock super eight
He rides her low on the hip, on the side he's got Bound For Glory in red, white and blue flash paint
He leans on the hood telling racin' stories, the kids call him Jimmy The Saint

My '64 hubcaps' spinners were banned by the feds? Cool. Gotta take a road trip to DC one day.

btw, great song

I saw Springsteen's 60 Corvette at a shop getting some work done on it not too long ago. Got a chance to spend some time and check it out. It looks the same as it did back in the 70's. It's a driver for sure and kind of cool that he left it the same as it was back in the day. Pilot Dan

You are just too young, "Racing in the streets" used to be on the radio all the time back when it came out in the late seventies (and well into the eighties), huge hit.
