Assuming you can meet all their requirements for documentation, A.G. Backeast makes some very nice VIN tags. I have used them several times over the years, and their tags have always been first-rate. Their requirements for documentation are strict and non-negotiable.
Otherwise, you are stuck with a state-issued VIN, which every state has a process to receive one, but they will kill the value of your car.

I would suggest that you tear all of your new upholstery out!
to look for it, and better hope you will find it. Thus if not, you will probably get if you can prove things, a DMV special VIN issue number that is nothing like your Corvette had (if where you are at is anything like where I am at!)
The best place to get these, is probably Mexico!!!!!!!!!
PS keep us informed as to the Lawsuit you willl be filing against the Restoration shop that took this off!!!! We will even let you start a new thread about that! This is a two thread screw up! Thread one-- your search saga for it! Thread two- the Lawsuit!
PS if I end up actually going to prison unexpectantly here in the next couple of years for good, I will make you one (because if I am already in prison, it wouldn't matter!) But to date the only guy that avoided that was I believe Carrol Shelby with his claimed found lost and found chassis's.
