Default A shot in the dark

Guy's I have a 67 Corvette coupe that I bought in Cridersville Ohio a few years ago from a man that bought it in 1969. NCRS could not give me an exact dealer that sold it but said it came from one of three dealerships Harper Chevrolet Hudson MI. - Harrell Chev - Olds Flat Rock, MI - or Hartman Chevrolet Hudsonville, MI This was due to damaged microfilm. The car is a 427 390, 4 speed, factory side exhaust, maroon w/ black stinger. The car was custom painted green in 1970 by Starlight Customs near Cridersville. Does anybody remember this car from the 60's or early 70's. Also I can't find anything on these old Chevy dealers. You know it never hurts to ask, I remember several cars from the 70's that are most likely long gone.
Hopefully someone will remember the car or the dealerships.

Harrell Chevrolet was just down the street from me. It was only Harrell for a short time and that was well after 1967 so you can rule that dealer out. It was bought out by Rodgers and the dealership folder when she (yes, she) bought a dealership in Woodhaven and changed its name to Rogers.

I believe in 1967 the Harrell dealership was called Van Riper-Hall after that it was Fred Hall until it became Harrell. I'm not sure what year it went from Van-Riper Hall to Fred Hall.

Update: Checked State of Michigan website. It became Fred Hall in 1961.

State web site shows nothing for Harper Chevrolet. It shows Hartman being incorporated in 1963 and an Automatic Dissolution in 1991.

This indicates Harper existed in Sept. 1966

Default Try Again

I am going to try and post this again. Maybe someone new will read it and know the car. As you can see Carcruse help me eliminate one dealership. You never know, it doesn't cost anything to try. Help me if you can. Thanks

Have you tried contacting the original owner? Can you search DMV records for the first registrant? What about contacting someone who worked for the custom shop?

Thanks for the suggestions Auto Gear, The guy I bought it from couldn't remember the original owners name, DMV doesn't go back that far. I did talk to the guy that custom painted it in 1970 ( that was great talking to him ). He even remembered the guy's name but didn't really know him. It would be so neat to know more of the history.
