Default 65 basket case

Hello, I bought a 65 project car ,it seems to be on a 63 frame with drum brakes. I switched the fronts over to Corvette discs, car came with used trailing arms for the rear ,trying to clean them up before putting them on car. I was able to get the trailing arm off the bearing assy, but can not figure out how to change dust covers for rotors ,there dented and rusted, do I have to have hub pressed out ,to change dust covers ? Seems like I mine as well have bearings changed too Thanks Gregg

Drum brakes were a option in 65 to give the buyer a credit. So don't rule it out of being original. Does the front cross member have a depression?

Gregg, is there any possibility that your 65 is one of the few that came with drum brakes...meaning you might still have the original 65 frame? There were, going off memory only, about 300+ I think that were ordered with a credit if the drum brake systems were still available.

Default Shield

Yes. The trailing arms need to be diassembled to change the dust shields...send them out and have bearings done too.

Check the VIN stamping on the frame and see if it matches the engine pad and VIN tag. In the Corvette world, you might have a rare one there...

Checking the frame stamped numbers will definitely tell if it's the original frame or not but the easier way would be to look at the front main crossmember for that divot as already suggested. No depression, likely not a 65 on up frame.

'63 Frames are unique - with the easiest way to identify being the lack of a front cross member depression that's present in '65 and later years for Big Block clearance.
