Hello: I have a 1965 Coupe with a 365hp engine, A/C and T.I. I found someone who can provide me with a refurbished original 65 alternator, but it is a #1100694 (55 amps), and according to Rick Miller's book my car originally had a #1100697 (60 amps). Will the 55 amp work properly? And, even if it does, am I wasting my money because it's not what was originally in the car? Thanks.

it will work fine, you won't miss the 5 amps... BUT, if you have your original, you can have it rebuilt to 60 amps, or whatever you want; case remains the same.

My 55 amp was just upgraded to 70 amp....only a $10 charge over the normal rebuild price.

If you have the original date-coded 0697 alternator, get it rebuilt. If not, the 0694 will work just fine, or you can continue to search for a correctly dated 0697.
