Default 16 Spline Slip Yoke for 63 T-10

Where is the best place to get a 16 spline slip yoke for a 63 T-10 transmission?

Need one quickly....Long Island Corvette appears to be out...

http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000370a

Any input appreciated.

This is not an easy find!

For those that don't know the early 16 spline slip yoke for a 63 T-10 was only from August 62 - Januaray 63 then it went to a 27 spline...

The other option is to change the tramsmission 16 spline output shaft to a 27 spline but have not given up the search for a 16 spline slip yoke yet...!

Hey you learn something new everyday...!!!

It is the same as the one used on C1s except for the barrel length is 1 1/8" too long which can easily be cut down by a driveshaft shop.

This is not the same part as a C1 Corvette.

The u-joint is held captive on the C1 yoke and the C2 yoke uses u bolts to disconnect from the u-joint. This is necessary to remove the driveshaft for service.

If you can't find one email me, I have one I will try to find and check condition.

Rick,
If you haven't found one yet, I have one in the back of a transmission I bought and I don't need it.

Verne

Never mind Rick. I took it out of the trans and it's a fine spline. Probably Buick or something. Come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad idea to beef up an early T-10!

If it is a 16 spline then yes that is what I was looking for...after countless calls around the country, I gave in and bought the 27 spline main shaft....

Couple of transmission shops as well as some corvette part suppliers suggested changing the shaft as well.

Thanks for showing the picture....

SAY WHAT!!!

You mean you are changing the main shaft on your transmission because of the course spline yoke.

These people want to sell you parts, unless you are doing some serious racing the original style yoke will be fine.

The original T 10 mainshafts had a bad habit of twisting the splines.

Exactly, many early T-10's (in the C-1's as well) were also retro fitted with the 27 spline main shaft for this reason. Pilot Dan

I looked at the 16 spline main shaft on my tramsmission and it was definately twisted which was the final decision in changing over to a 27 spline.

If you look down the length of the main shaft you can clearly see the twist in the splines...not a show stopper but while I am this far might as well do away with both problems....1) finding a good 16 spline slip yoke and 2) fix the twisted main shaft.

The upside is finding a 27 spline slip yoke is easy and it is not a judgable item since the main shaft is covered by the slip yoke.

Yea... LI Corvette was the first place I tried...he said forget it they can't be gotten any longer...heard the same from other supply guys as well.

The good news is the 27 spline came in from the Gearbox (tranny is all rebuilt) and the new 27 slip yoke came in at a local drive shaft machine shop (today) and all is good...Tranny is going back in as we speak...

Problem solved!!
