Just asking, you do know you can change over to electronic ignition and still use the stock distributor?

And this my friend is what's driving the off shore market for all the people with old cars. The fun in owning a old car is to rebuild original parts and reuse them. And really unless you got some over done high horse power engine you will not see or feel no difreance between points and your new wiz bang gadget. It's been beaten to death on here

This is what I'm running on my car...

I never had an original setup so I opted for this setup..

Had some engine work done...

Other than this the engine is stock/period correct...

8572 Dist
6A box
Blaster 2 coil...
8.5 mill plug wires

"Resister is eliminated"...

I use this same system on my '65 L78. The original TI was long gone when I got the car. The 8572 and Blaster 2 coil fit under the stock shielding with no problem. I painted the 6al box black and velcroed it to the passenger side splash shield. Wired it to the starter from there.

I can fix your stock distributor up to run with any aftermarket unit. For some photos, you can check out this thread:

Just to be sure I understand correctly- do you mean that you velcroed it to the shield that bolts up under the fender well and has the rubber weatherstrip stapled to it? Then just lay the box on top? I test fit my Mallory Hyfire IV box in there last night, and it is super close. It looks like it will fit, but I think you could paint it fluorescent orange and no one could see it; it is under the battery.

Yup, that's the spot. It's a little more visible on mine with the battery on the drivers side. Also it's visible from the outside through the fender vents. Painted black, you really have to be looking for it to notice it.
